Standard options and upgrades for Lancer X
Glasses with UV protection on Lancer X
Let us install new side glasses UVS + AS3 with UV protection on Mitsubishi Lancer X.
In one of the previous articles, I have installed a new climate control unit from Outlander 3 on Mitsubishi Lancer X, which is both in winter and in summer copes with its task perfectly.
And in order the cabin will heat in summer less, I have decided to replace my side glasses to glasses with marking UVS + AS3 with UV protection function, which were removed from donor Galant Fortis.
As well as replace all 4 limiters on the doors, as my standards cope their main function poorly, and I find no sense in restoring them with repair package.
For easy reference, this article is represented in 2 versions: text and video at the end.
What do the glasses from UVS marking protect against
Glasses with UVS marking block UV emission, so that the cabin will heat less in the parking lot. And respectively, the cabin will cool faster at start of air conditioner in summer.
As a cheaper alternative, you can stick UVS film on your glasses, but I don't really like the film.
I trust in standard decision more, as well as, plus, the rear side glasses have the factory tinting additionally.
Replacement of front side glasses on Mitsubishi Lancer X
Replacement of front side glasses is quite easy. It is necessary to remove a door card, it is fastened with 3 screws and clamps along the outline, unscrew and by the small confident effort unlatch the door card.
To remove the glass, you need to lower it to a level that will allow you to unscrew the glass from the window regulator mechanism through the manufacturing holes. The glass is fastened to the mechanism with 2 bolts, unscrew them.
The glass is removed according to the following scheme: we lift it up and take it out of the door with a wider part. Install a new glass in a reverse manner.
And taking this opportunity, we replace the door limiter, it is fastened with 1 bolt to the car's body and with 2 bolts to the door.
My old limiters have worn out and did not fix the doors. But with new ones, the doors open, as if the car had just left the salon.
On the same principle, as with a driver's door, replace side glass and door limiter from the passenger's side.
Install the door card back and look at the result. The first thing, you will notice, is that the glass with UVS marking is darker than the standard and has a pleasant greenish-yellow tint.
Replacement of rear side glasses on Mitsubishi Lancer X
It is a little bit harder to replace glasses on the rear doors, due to the presence of additional small windows.
Remove the door card and unscrew the glass from the window regulator mechanism through the manufacturing holes.
Remove a sealing rubber and unscrew the guiding bar, where a sealing rubber is inserted, this bar is fastened with 2 bolts to the door and with 1 screw, which is located under the main door sealer.
Remove the bar and now we can dismount a small window without any problems.
After all these manipulations, it is possible to begin the replacement of rear side glasses and door limiters.
The rear glasses have factory tinting along the whole glass surface, which is certainly pleasing.
The marking on the rear glasses looks like this, with AS3 mark.
Repeat all the same on the rear right door, replace glasses and door limiter.
The first impression of the glass replacement was extremely positive, when I got into the salon, I felt the difference, through the new side windows, the rays from the sun burn many times less.
Also, there is a possibility to replace a rear glass to the glass with UV protection, but there are already many more problems with the replacement, so I will leave it as it is, I will not change it.
But a wind screen I will probably replace in the nearest future, since it is already pretty sandblasted and has chips.
So, a replacement of side glasses to glasses UVS + AS3 with UV protection is quite useful option, especially in warmer regions. It remains just wash glasses from dirt and inscriptions with a marker properly.
