Standard hood limit switch on Lancer X

I have made sure many times, that Lancer X is not is not equipped with many useful options for Russian market. And yet another option is trunk hood limit switch.

 

I had a situation where I did not latch the hood well, and fortunately, I noticed it on time, before the ride. That is why, we will install the limit switch, it seems like a small thing, but in my opinion a very useful option.

 

 

For your convenience, there will be 2 variants- the text one and video in the end.

 

Some owners install non-standard limit switch, bought on the electronics market, but in 50% cases, they wear out over time. Here, decide for yourself how convenient it is for you, but I am a supporter of the fact that if you can implement it regularly, then it is better to do so.

 

I am lucky having a restyled Mitsubishi Lancer X, 2011. That is meant, that I have the installed wiring for given hood limit switch from the factory. That is why I need to install only the hood limit switch.

 

And on the pre-restyled Lancer X, unfortunately, there is no wiring under the hood limit switch. In this case, you have several variants:

 

1. Install wiring independently. There are only 2 wires, the first one install from the hood lock to the ETACS unit in the С-312 connector (pin 12). And the second wire minus, on the car body. And, of course, buy a limit switch.

 

2. Take the wiring and limit switch from the donor (saw-cut).

3. Buy the manufactured set for MZ360316EX installation, in which there are the limit switch with the connector, wiring and all necessary fasteners.

 

As I had the wiring, I needed to find only the limit switch. That is why I bought from the saw-cut the standard lock with the limit switch from right-hand drive Lancer X.

 

Installation is rather simple, unscrew the lock, it is fastened with 3 bolts.

 

Unscrew the limit switch from the lock from right-hand drive Mitsubishi Lancer X and install it similarly in my standard lock, the only thing, the limit switch on standard lock is fastened from the other side.

 

Screw the standard lock back. And then connect the hood limit switch in the standard connector.

There is no need for any activation. 

 

 

Now, when you open the hood, there will be and open hood indication on the dash panel. But it appears only when the engine is running.
